Not HD mate so not really worth it..

Only supports up to 1024*768 when you need 1280 * 1024 for HD. Hope that helps.

Even the newest of proj are only 1280x720 and are classed as HD. Proj that will do 1080 will be out in a few months but in the region of £2k+

I have a Sanyo Z1 which is a few years old but the 360 still looks excellent on it! Have a read on www.avforums.com
You see, TheThingIs, eventually you'll be all right!

    Get this

Only £510 with a spare lamp including delivery.

Its 2000 lumens which means it'll still look good in rooms with a lot of ambient light (you won't have to shut the curtains to play).

I'm getting one as soon as I sell my current projector.

I was thinking about getting a a HD projector, but decided on a 42" LCD instead.
I was looking at the Optoma HD70, and almost ALMOST got it, but then went for the telly cops I figured the TV would be sharper than a projector and give an overall better picture - as well as the fact that I don`t wanna be staring at my wall all day every day

It`s got great reviews and a budget price, this link has some pics and info etc in it: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=725634

PS. It can be had herer for £625 inc delivery... http://www.avprojectorlamps.com

If you check the specification, under Display (projector) it says

    Image Aspect Ratio

    16:9
    4:3

Doesn't that mean that it is 16:9

my projector's native res is 1024 x 768 but it handles hd modes beautifully, things look stunning at 720p

It scales 1080i to fit but the front end processor does a really good job and you dont notice any artifacts. I just prefer 720p (being progressive)

most projectors are really flexible in display modes, even tho it's 4:3 natively it'll handle 16:9 properly and even some of the really obscure widescreen ratios

It's at nearly 2000 hours now and still going strong on the original bulb. amazing buy for 500 quid

stuff all yer lcd's and plasmas i say. 72" hi def gaming for 500 notes, cant go wrong...

a word on specs, you need a minimum of 1100 lumens to be properly useable. Mine is 1600 but i have never had it out of the reduced 1300 lumen (whisper mode) and it's fine in a normally lit room or with the curtains open. It only struggles in direct sun light. I use it as my normal TV most of the time.

Dont panic that the internal lcd is 4:3 makes no odds as to what the proj can actually display.

Do make sure that the projector has component inputs. Mine doesnt out of the box you have to buy a hard to get adaptor cable

On lamp life, mine is guaranteed for 1000 hours, expected to run 3000 hours and has currently just tipped over 2000 hours. It's over a year since i bought the machine and it's had daily heavy use. Some people might not buy because of the replacement costs but due to the initial cheapness this really isnt an issue.

Another aspect that people tend to overlook is that a projector is portable. You can take it round your mates to watch the footy, play games on your bedroom ceiling etc etc etc

    cheers,

    malty
