Default PS3 From A Foreign Land

    Assuming that they have any....
My cousin is coming home from Australia for Xmas and has asked if i would like anything bringing back either for Xmas or otherwise...she's obviously stopping off somewhere on the way home, Thailand i think.
Would it be worth asking her to try and get me a PS3 if i gave her the money for it?
Are they region locked does anyone know for the games etc?
How much could i expect to pay for one over there?

games do not have a region. so they will work, or you could buy the machine and get american games.

ONLY Sony games are not region locked, ALL other games are up to the individual developer, so that means that Final Fantasy and MGS4 COULD be region locked, I feel so sorry for all those folk who think their PS3 is 100% region free, when they go and buy a game that does have region coding and find out it doesn't work!

are you thinking of buying one from thailand or australia?

I think some parts of australia are actually paying more than us and have no definate release date yet, thailand, who knows, id cross both places off your list to be honest.
From what i saw out there, games machines are generally very expensive there due to the fact piracy is so rife.

As I said m8, it will be 100% fine as long as Sony is the developer, BUT Sony isn't the developer for most games!

Think of how many games are out on PS2, and think how many are made by Sony. The only one I can think of, off the top of my head is the Gran Turismo series!

But as of now, most games will probably be region free, but just keep in mind that you might have to import games such as FFXIII, and MGS4!

Hence, I'm gonna wait till the UK launch, and the fact that I dont have the money right now doesn't help either!
