Default [HELP] GOW reading as DVD?

    Hi

I have a 2 month old 360, never had the dvd drive flashed or anything, never had the 3 red light trouble either.

Got GOW the other day and iv only been able to make it boot a couple of times, most of the time i get the "To play the disc, please put it into a X-box 360"

In the dash it comes up as a DVD not a game.

    Anyone else had this problem?
Should i take it back to the shop i got it from and change disc's or is it a problem with my 360?? Never had any disc read troubles before.

    Cheers

I had that exact same problem when I tried to run my original GOW on my flashed drive xbox360. It came up with the "This needs to be played in a xbox360" message. Sounds wierd since you say it hasn't been flashed mate.

...so no answer still then...lol.. that sucks! ... that would just be more fuel to the fire of getting my machine modded!!!! I'd rather spend/waste £1.20 on a dual layer dvd+r than £30-45 on a legit game only to find it wont boot!

This console has more bugs than ever and no one (m$) seems to be doing a thing about it... remember the patch for dead rising that was supposed to be done? ... I haven't forgotten about that and since then I've been forced to play my 360 on my 17" pc monitor instead of my 32" wide screen tv.

have you tried removig the HDD? it says alot of the troubles come from errors relating to the HDD cache.
Is there a command to clear it within the dash?

    edit:
There's two ways I know of to clear the cache - hold down A during the booting of a game (before any splash screen appears) or load three different games besides the game you want to clear the cache for (I'm pretty sure there's only three caches still, like on original Xbox). Obviously this second method isn't useful unless you have at least four games.

seems a bit cackhanded but worth a try

Never had this prob with any of my games, but they're all "backups" anyway, so that might be why?! If they can't produce legit games that work with unmodded consoles, but the backups work fine in modded consoles, then I say fuck 'em! I'll just keep using backups! At least I dnt have any of these issues with them! And they only cost £1.30 instead of £40/50!!
