    Default Private Contractor..

Currently working for a Security company (under agency) where I am sent out to repair atm machines.. Also migrating software and replacing hardware too..

Now I am thinking of doing this solo( as a contractor) and wondered how do I get into it.. "Friend of friend" says they know someone who does this type of thing and gets around £200 a day for it too...

    Any ideas welcome...

Before you do anything, sound it out completely. One of the wider issues here is tax - not sure of the exact reference, but the Gov't (via the Inland Revenue) is now going to start clamping down on umbrella companies which dodge income tax.

Ultimately though it's hard to break into - I never successfully managed to pull it off, although a friend of mine did recently by applying for a conventional part-time (0.5) employee job, then after being offered the job, asked if he could be taken on in a contract capacity. Throw in a handful of sidelines, and your base is set and you're half way there.

If your CV is juicy enough, try www.computerpeople.com - a few people have had good results through these guys.
