since the board was down, its apparent that people are pretty unaware of the digital-forums irc channel. this used to be quite popular but kinda died on its arse a couple of years ago last time the board was down for an extended period. usually when the board was down in the past, the channel was packed with people trying to find out what was happening.

its still there, not many folk in it any more.. but the more people who join and STAY JOINED, the more chat there will be.

The problem is people join for 5 minutes, get bored when no one talks then leave. mirc is a very small app that is designed to be left open. people might not talk for days at a time, but the more people show up, the more thats likely to change, there used to be about 40 people in it at all times and im sure we have a few more people than that on df that have their PC's on 24/7.

if you want to give it a go:

1. Download mirc from http://www.mirc.com/get.html
2. install the app
3. register it

   Serial: Name: registered S/n: 8311-908651

4. if your not an idiot, you should be able to figure out the set up, if you are, just guess... then hit: irc://efnet/digital-forums or type /server efnet then /join #digital-forums

alternatively, if you want to check it out before going to the bother of installing an application go here: http://www.digital-forums.com/chat/

or here http://chat.efnet.org/
put a nickname in the top box and '#digital-forums' in the bottom.

Its all in options mate............ You can select to join channel on start and can put it as a favourite

There are a few of us who are in there all the time,and will be glad to answer any questions you have regarding setup etc.
As Marcode said join but don't quit after 5 mins. The longer you stay the more likely it will be that somebody talks to you!

Ahh the DF IRC..I remember the days there with Ruggie, Maltloaf, T2k1, Czarjunkie, Marcode and Detector to name a few.

That was about 4 or 5 years ago but yeah, when a good group of people were on there it was a funny place.

Maybe its time to check it out again

Well after a brief surge of people in #digital-forums it's pretty much dead again.

I imagine you all use 'youth' things like MSN and myspace......

It isn't a very chatty channel when heavily populated though. There are other channels for the intellectual elite. I always liked the topic though.

thats not true.. how would you know anyhow? theres not been more than 20 people in for months.

when there was more people in (usually about 40), the chat went for the majority of the day.

Well, I idled for a full day before Xmas (said hello a few times too) and the screen didn't even fill with text. Tis pretty shocking for a board with so many members.

Have never really liked IRC anyway to be honest....
