Default Wii on AOL wireless broadband?

is anyone on aol and uses their wirelss router to access the wiis online features? My friend lives at home and the family have an aol wired broadband setup at the moment, we thought he could just buy a wirless mode, but then i realised aol needs logging in via that crapppy broswer etc.

Is it possible to run his broadband through the house and have it accessable from 2 computers and a Wii with Aol?

Get a Netgear DG834G router, AOL recommend it, it works really well. and the Wii will connect through it.

are you sure criminalben? I forgot to mention they have the silver AOL package, which has to be upgraded to gold for them to log into 2 different AOL accounts at the same time. I would have thought if your using a router that this wouldnt matter since the router must be able to connet to the net without the use of the aol browser..or am i wrong?

The router connects to AOL using the master screenname and password. You can then access the internet on any connected computer with any internet browser. It should work just as well with the Wii and any other console.

I use a wireless Belkin Router with aol and the Wii conects no problems at all. And there are 3 other P.C's using the same Router as well as the 360.

ah, all good, thanks chaps, i tried finding out on the aol site myself but i always have the suspician it would always need that crappy browser involved, good that it doesnt anymore.

Which belkin router do you use gamebuster? the netgear one is £55, a bit cheaper would be nice

sorry to dig up this thread again, stevo25, if i set up their pc with the method in your text file, can they still use the aol browser like you would IE etc? I have a feeling the parents of the family are used to using it and its email adresses etc.
