tv out black and white

Linked up my pc to my partners tv, and it wont show colour when using tv out, s video through a scart adaptor, used this setup on many other tv's and worked fine, is there a setting i can change on my pc that might help or on the tv? Any other way of fixing the problem? The tv is a sony, but it has no other inputs unfortunately. Was top of the range many moons ago, but cant be more than 10yrs old.

is it an s-video scart in that you're using? If not you'll get it in b&w.

there was an issue that affected nvidia drivers a while back...

i had old drivers for ages, then after updating once in the middle of last year, the new version meant anything playing on the telly came out in black and white..

no matter what i did it wouldnt show in colour, so after a bit of reading found that it was an issue with all nvidia drivers after a certain version.. it persisted for about 4 months so i gave up trying new versions..

anyway... the result is im still using v81.98 of the gforce drivers..

or try the nvidia knowledge base... theyve covered some settings u can change etc if its simply a settings issue.

Used to have same problem on svideo to scart, there was a little switch on the scart socket which changed it to pal.

it is probably set to NTSC or whatever it is out of the box... the american tv format

you need to change it to PAL-I

Unfortunately its an ATi card, usually faultless for TV out, so dont think its a driver issue. I considered the s video issue, so could be that. Its set to pal at the moment so dont think its that

Only switch on the scart is direction, to use it for in and out if required.

Any more ideas?

try changing output to ntsc and see what happens

it'll be that the tv doesn't accept s-vid in via scart. If I cycle through my av inputs the one before s-video is normal composite in and that show b&w and then the one after (s-vid) shows colour.

You can get little decoder type boxes for about £20 that should let you use scart.
