As my previous post was a little negative about BT, I should give credit where its due
We have BT at work on a standard ADSL connection synched at 2mbit. It's connected using a D-Link DSL-300T and the connection is exceptionally stable. 99.9% of the time I achieve maximum speed from the european Giganews server and (more importantly for your gaming!) low latency:
