Default In the style of Les McLean

I saw a few of this guys images and his style includes grainy shots of landscapes, so I thought I would do one.

It was a miserable day around the country, and I went up Beacon Fell and beyond where I took this one.

    Photoshop noise added.

Nice pic that mate, looks like a lovely location for some pics too. Would like to have seen the sky a bit punchier though, perhaps a quick touch with the burn brush on PS? Never heard of the guy though it has to be said, but pic doesnt look too grainy to me?

I didnt add to much noise, didn't want to overdo it too much. As for burning, its one part of PS that I find hard to get to grips with, but I must point out that the skies were mostly blankets of grey, with little features to give any edges. The rain misted up the top of the hills a lot. And Les was featured in a recent popular magazine. He has a website (google it) where he has some images.

    Exif: 1/80 @f/9.0, ISO 400.

Had a go burning the sky, and added some more noise to increase the grain effect...

Not bad, although I find the 2 windows on the far left divert your attention from the main image, so could maybe do with being cropped out.

    I like Les McLean's B&W work. Here's his site: www.lesmcleanphotography.com
