PS3 - Will it sell out?

There will be the average consumer who sees playstation and will buy, however its not summer or xmas so Im not sure whether somethign with such a high price tag will fare well later on. But launch day will be the hardcores and and the average lack of knowedge parents so sell out for launch but after that they definatly need to think about dropping the price.

Defo sell out on the day and for the next couple of months...

Sony have been around for a long time and know what they are doing... They will make sure it looks like demand outrstips supply even if that is not the case.. The free advertising and frenzy that is created is too good to miss!!!!

Got one on order but I doubt I'll keep it... I'll get one at some point sure, but until there are some decent games and whilst they make a mark-up on fleabay, any I get will be flogged to idiots on there!!!!!!

Sony are not going to drop the price becasue Sony makes a PS3 for $840.50, losing them $240.51 (840.50 - 599.99) per console sold.

if the sales are as poor as they have been in japan and the US they may be forced to lower the price, the reason the wii is attracting so many new developers is because the installed user base is massive after just 2 months of sales.
Any format with a big user base has more potential to make a company money, more companies making games for a machine will boost the sales even more.
At the moment sony are in danger of losing many of their developers to the 360 since a game has about 5x more chance of selling on the 360 at the present time.

Couldn't give a monkeys. When it's hacked I'll get one, but I won't be paying £500 that's for sure.

Ever think that the first model is the easiest to hack? Historically the first model firmwae console close to launch always seem to have a little expolit window?

adults who can afford one will prolly just buy one anyway, but they are locking out a huge section of their market who are too young to be able to splash 600 quid on a console and games... and i doubt parents will be buying for them at that price either.. they are mental if they do..

according to a UK retailer they have recieved record amounts of preorders for the PS3, 5x what they got for the wii.
If thats true then it will be a huge sell out, those facts dont seem to tally up with alot of other info. nothing official eitherway.

Amazon are apparantly taking only orders for Stock they have confirmed, yet to the pre-orders was open for hours and not closed in the 5-10minutes like the Wii. but I bagged one anyway.

Ordered one from amazon had a good think about it beforehand and decided its was cheaper than any of the current blu-ray players available in the uk currently and as a bonus it will play games

I've no idea how it will perform as a blu ray player, but i do remember when i got my ps2 thinking it was awesome that I wouldnt need to buy a dvd player. How wrong i was!

why did your dvd not work on your ps2 mine still does have a oppo as well but only cos it upscales?

alot of people said playback of dvds was poor on the first PS2s and there were reports of the audio going out of sync, i never noticed any major differences but i never used my ps2 to playa whole film. Id still never use a 425 quid console to do the job of a 20 quid dvd player.
