Can you do I repair install of vista?

I don't want to do all that restore point bollox. I just want to do a repair install like you could with xp? is this possible?

doesnt it give u a repair option when booting off the cd?

No it only gives you a repair boot option to sort you boot.ini file out or a roll back option to set it back to another date. but that will loose all my programs n even if i do that it still might be the install thats faulty

I tried to do a repair as well in the end i ran the cd from within vista and did an upgrade install and this reinstalled it but its not the perfect solution as i think it still leaves the old vista files in an old.windows folder
