    Default Keep freeview free petition

If you are unhappy about sky replacing their free channels with pay channels that require a new set top box, sign the petition:

I think that petitions should just really be used for serious issues like the road fund pricing one or they will lose there impact. Why not just canvass for people to not buy the box and subscribe in the first place. If it fell flat on its face somebody would get burnt fingers.I don`t subscribe to Sky and think its extortionate compared to some foreign services. Not buying will have far more impact. When the analogue service stops there will be lots more capacity for perhaps free channels so stuff the pay providers if thats how you feel.

signed... when we get peeps in areas that cant have terrestrial freeview we sell em a dish and set top box and all the bollox but without the subscription...if the fookers start charging I will be hard pushed to get a sale and have to start erecting 20m masts with a standard digi on the top in thier gardens.

Freeview isn't going pay, freeview will lose three channels (sky 3, sky sports news and sky news) which have very low viewing figures anyway.

There will then be three pay systems on dtt, topup tv, setanta, and sky providing more choice and better content, especially to the people who can't have cable or sky

And my understanding of that is the current boxes with CAMs won't work with Sky's proposed new service...please tell me I'm wrong

it's expected sky are to use their own encryption, new boxes will be needed anyway as the service will be mpeg4 which none of the uk boxes support.

    Thanks for clearing that up.

Well in that case I hope Sky's stupid idea never gets past the monopolies commission.

SKY are cnuts. They are charging too much to companies like Freeview and Virgin Media to have the channels.

Cause they won't pay, SKY are taking them away. There have been adverts on Sky channels and in the papers about it.

Virgin claim, SKY don't like competition.

I'm sure I'll cope without them, but it's not on really... That said SKY can do what they like, it's their channels.

As much as I may not think this is good news for the consumer, at the end of the day, to me it seems like people are signing a petition asking for a commercial company to give their services for free, I wonder why I think signing this petition is a waste of time and fa will be done.

Think about it, I can start a petition saying all branches of Threshers should give me 1 free pint every friday. Loads of us would love the idea, could even possibly get loads of signatures, but do you think they ever would?
