Who were you when you thought you where you was?. Whats a matter for can't you want to?
Thanks Badger boy, I now know how Neo must of felt at the end of The Matrix!
Spoiler:
my clutch went on the motorway and i got an 8 week discipline from work.
remember that episode of friends when Rachel writes Ross that letter...
I wish you had put the "Short Version - Synopsis" at the top of the page, all that reading's made me feel sleepy.
So let me get this right.
You want paying for a days work that you didnt do?
I want a job in that company.
The "company" is not removeing any money from your wage, they are not giving it you to start with the law you mentiond is irelevent.
If you want a better reply go VIP and post in the legal section.
Legal Eagle Section or Whine Cellar.....
School holidays off ... less than 7 hours at work a day ... probably get an hour for lunch plus 2 breaks ... and you want to get paid for Day you didn't work. Teachers and Support Workers seem to live a different world to people with real jobs.
It's your responsibily to get yourself to work. You failed to get there, deal with the consequences.

while i think the initial request of this post is a bit daft.
If you dont work... you dont get paid - simple.
I dont think its fair to launch such an attack on the profession in general.
Teachers put a whole lot more time into what they do than just the school day.
im a teacher.... oh its that line!!! Anyway TBH we have too many holidays to bitch about what your moaning about, i think it does need to moving to the wine cellar........ hes giving some teachers a bad name
Special K+ enjoyed as a healthy breakfast!
I was late for work 3 times last week, sheesh you wouldn't believe the problems my car has, such as :-
It wouldn't start - Couldn't be arsed to get up
Puncture - Ditto
Ran out of petrol - Hungover
Now I know you guys are gonna say, hold on thats a 55 plate with run on flat tyres ! Well the answer is yes but I pay myself so therefore I reprimand myself (your a very naughty boy swiss ... slap on wrist etc) ...the moral of this story is you should have phoned in sick and got SSP you silly boy I've heard all the excuses and the worst being "I've severed my forearm" that was probably the only true excuse i've ever heard (we call him lefty now)
Losing Gracefully Since September 2010
hahahaha ... no they don't ... at least not the ones I know. They're all admit they're lazy people who couldn't make it in the real world.
As they say "Those who can't, teach (and those who can't teach, teach games)" ... I think the last part came from School of Rock, but it's still true.

Sorry, normally I'll sympathise with any whine, but finding it difficult with this one.
Sorry mate, I work in a school too but without the luxury of the holidays and short days.
They are well within their rights both legally and ethically.
They will have well defined allowances for personal days including bereavement etc etc and they can be pretty strict with this.
Your personal circumstances are pretty much irrelevant. You are hired to be there at certain times and they will expect you to be there.
Now without sounding too harsh, you have to plan for disaster in anything involving travel. Never rely on getting home with an hour to spare. Always allow loads more.
We have to revolve around our jobs. It sucks but we do.
People move house for their jobs, lose families. All because we can't survive without them.
These things happen unfortunately and when they do we have to suck the lemons and move on.
sounds like u had a shite time to be fair, but i can see where they are coming from, you cant get paid for a day you didnt do at work and it isnt the schools fault your car broke down, thats how they see it im afraid
Cheers for the response folks. I guess I have learnt something from this concerning forums at the end of day. I actually wrote this for another forum whereby there where a lot more constructed replies. Not all tho I admit. Maybe due to it's length no one has actually bothered to read what I wrote in detail and what aspect I really was annoyed about. It certainly wasn't pay related.
phlix I think the small minded comment you were trying to recall was "Those who can ... do and those who can't ...teach. Those who can't teach ... teach P.E". I wouldn't know as i'm not a teacher.
Anyhow feel free to put the world to rights folks. I just needed a vent.
