    PS3 what tv

thinking of getting a ps3 , at the mo my lad has a 14" portable in his bedroom so I would need a better tv as well , do I need to get a HD ready TV ? or would a 'normal' lcd tv do? it would be used mostly for games not watching dvds . also any recommendations for cheap as possible 20" (approx) lcd tvs ?
    Cheers

u can get 19" monitors for about £140 now, they would be great if you get a PS3 vga/dvi cable.
Whats your budget?, seems a little silly to spend £500 on a new console and then plug it into a tiny cheapo telly. You can grab a 32" LCD for under £400 now, that would be ideal.

32" is a bit big for his bedroom , might go up in size but was more concerned wether HD was a must or not .... on the budget side would want to keep it below £250 hence the HD question , you mention a monitor ... it would have to be a TV

i would say high def is a must, its a high def console, playing 360 and PS3 looks so much better in high def.
Im not sure how much your going to notice that on a small screen tho.

TBH im not sure a PS3 is even a good idea for a youngsters bedroom on a weenie screen.

anyway, theres some 19" LCD tellys about, with HD, check comet for a GOODMANS LD1928W http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/c...0455+5000455+8

I totally agree, ps3 is a high def console, if you want to use the full potential of the system and the games you play then your going to need one.

ok , thanks for responses , have now moved up to a 26/27" and will talk wife into upping money to £300 mark , the tvs I have looked at have a PC D Sub socket , so can this double as a pc screen ? got this from your pic f1kid , actually looking at AOC L27w551T at http://www.intekx.com/product_info.php?products_id=106
    any thoughts ?

also is a DVI connector the same as a HDMI ?

PC Dsub is the same VGA socket found on PC screens yes, I would expect you wil be able to get a PS3 VGA cable

HDMI would be better for a PS3 as HDMI cables are available much cheaper than VGA ones and HDMI also carries the sound signal..
