its weird everyone is getting the hump over the UK getting charged more for the Ps3, every single console prior to the 360 and Wii has cost a hell of a lot more here, yet it wasnt such an issue then.

Agreed - BUT people won't cancel a PS3 PAL preorder because of the backwards situation, if you have PAL PS2 games they won't work on an import machine regardless of chip or emulation.

Plus if you have PS2 games you odds on you have a PS2 if you are that desperate - it's down to cost differences between the regions that people are pulling out

Well, i would rather pay more money for a PS3 that has a warranty just incase something goes wrong, i dont know about you but i prob would not have the money to folk out for a new PS3 if something went wrong.

All PS3 games are region free and I doubt they would update via live. But if you get an import you won't be able to use Live anyway.

its removed to reduce production costs.
yet it still costs more here than anywhere else.

All consoles start off like that. They aim to make their money back on games. As production continues they get more efficient, and reduce costs. The 360 has only just started making a small profit for like 6 months.

Except the Wii, I think that made a profit from the start.
