I need to extract some audio from a .AVI file and also some still images what can I use to do this.

dunno about the audio but you can take stills in powerdvd

check doom9.net for other stuff

VirtualDubMod would do the audio....

yeah, just 'extract wav' using virtualdub, if its already a compressed file it should come out as a wav named mp3.

It's probably an overkill solution, but Sony Vegas would do both, sections of audio from a longer stream and still images.
