I upgraded, more down to haste than want. However, I am hopeful that a downgrader will be around before long. I am not that gutted as I have more than enough games to be getting on with on my Wii, X360, PC etc..

you could have setup a dns server to go online without updating. It Only takes a few minutes and then allows you to bypass the "update required" message and use all the online features ;) ...google "simple dns ps3" and it's the top link. For the UK use fuk01.ps3.update.playstation.net and duk01.ps3.update.playstation.net as your A names and set your ps3's DNS to the same as you pc's IP on your router and away you go! Works on wireless and cable... I just registered and I'm grabbing the GT HD demo using 1.50f/w.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere here yet, does anyone else use this method?

the way i see it unless the games are transferable from pc whats the point in waiting for the loader, £500 for a writer, theres no way im paying that again, not when 12months passes and then there half the price, 24months passes and there £30
then the discs are £10 each, pah, to burn 10 games it wud cost u £600, with £600 u cud buy 12 games (thats asuming your paying £50 per game which u wont, so youl get more than 12) and if u already have a 360 then u myt aswell buy the ps3 games anyways as theres only a hanfull coming out that are only released on ps3 anyways

id probly buy gta just cause i like the controls better on the playstaion versions

I updated. I look at the ability to "backup" games as not always a good thing as in the past I have collected rather than played.

I have modded every console I have owned including the wii and 360 but I do think that you lose the buzz of going out and buying that must have game and i tend to download and never play them or start them but don't finish, Its a good thing if you have children who wont every game that comes out but not if you play 2 or 3 titles a year like me

totally agree! I'm the same in having all my consoles modded (bar my DS Lite (for now) and my PS3, which will be here in the next couple of days!).

I just end up downloading all the games I possibly can, and dont play them! I've got over 100 PS2 games, but most of them have either never been played once burnt, or played, but never finnished! While others are played all the time!
