PSP Just bought a PSP 2.01

    Hi all,
I've just picked up a pristine PSP 2.01 off Gumtree for £55
I've got a hell of reading to do before I even attempt to downgrade to 1.5 and then upgrade to 3.03. but the question is, shall I continue with my education and do it myself or just take it to a computer fair and get them to do it for me? I'm obviously concerned that I might brick my new toy so would appreciate any advice.

    TIA peeps

Mate PSPs are so easy to config dont waste ur money letting someone else do it.

Off top of me head i would go from 2.01 up to 3.03 then use the downgrader to go to 1.5 then go back up to chosen custom firmware.

It takes 10 mins to do, literally just moving files about and clicking "ok" a few times.

    go to http://www.psp-hacks.com

the forum section, help tutorials - loads and loads of simple, easy to understand threads with file attatchments and screenshots.

Thanks for the pointer Spennyboy. Reading that page would I be right in assuming that after I've upgraded to 3.03 I would need a copy of GTA to then downgrade?

If that is the case do you think this so called "2.0/2.01 Easy Downgrader" would also be a viable alternative, or am I safer picking up a copy of GTA and going for a more belt and braces apprach?

Thanks biggy7. It all looks very straightforward and more importantly noob-proof, but I think I've hit my first stumbling block in that eloader 0.99 needs GTA:LCS to run..

Oh well, my journey will continue once I've gotten hold of a copy of the game (GTA:LCS must be in the #1 best seller charts )

GTI, if you use the 2.71 downgrader you dont need a copy of gta to do it.
you can upgrade to 2.71 using the official eboot, then use the downgrader.

Guys, please disregard my stupidity.. bit more reading around and I've discovered the TIFF method to get eloader working. As a proof of concept I've now got PSpool homebrew working and all is well

Its getting late so I will leave the rest for tomorrow...

    Cheers

I'm going to try this method as the other one failed i.e. Hardware Downgrader to make it FW1.00 and then FW1.50 EBOOT.PBP to update it. I've discovered that my PSP-1007 (Taiwan/Japan) is notorious for being the only model that cannot be upgraded from 1.0 > 1.5.
