    PSP Compressing ISO

So far I'm loving my new toy and the 3.10 OE firmware, but the only problem is that the ISO game images I have are all around 1.5GB. Is there a recommended way of compressing these games to play on my particular firmware. I've done quite a bit of reading around but I'm starting to get confused because a lot of them talk about having to install extra bits of software which may pre-date the latest 3.03/3.10 FW and the fact that it can play compressed ISOs (??)

    TIA

Description: v0.4 DAX ZISO includes DAX Creator, a Windows ISO compression utility. It enables you to convert existing PSP ISO images to a compressed DAX compatible format for use with the DAX ZISO Loader.

As I say I dont know much, and there are probably newer better methods
so please feel free to correct me.

If I remember right Dark_AleX released an iso compressor in conjunction with his custom firmwares a while back.

It was dos based but there have been many gui frontends made for it so things are super easy. You could try the maxconsole forums and check which is the latest and greatest.

This is where the confusion arises guys, I thought dax xixo loader was only for firmware 1.5 etc (i.e. <3.03). But from what I can see I don't need any loaders to play ISOs, they play just fine from the ISO folder on my memory stick. The only problem is their huge size.

3.10OE can play .cso compressed iso's from memory stick just fine without the need for any loaders. Forget DAX and loaders, it just confuses things.

Step 1. Go and find an iso -> cso compressor (http://yacc.ifrance.com/ is one I know works)
Step 2. Convert iso to cso using the app you just got.
Step 3. Put the .cso file on the memory stick just the same as you would a .iso and select it from the XMB just the same to play it.

Thanks mate, I've managed to squeeze a 1.5GB game down to a 0.9GB without any loss in quality. Thats exactly what I was looking for.

I used UMDGen to compress mine...it works, but the games take longer to load and, with racing games especially, it stutters and often images don't load properly.

I used to use UMDGEN and rip any unnecessary data and then compress it down.
