Update N95 / N95 8GB (or any Nokia) To Unbranded Firmware - 01/05/09

I updated mine at the weekend. No noticeable differences although the satnat took an age to lock on when I used Sygic Drive today. Other than that, seems he same.

No, it will de-brand the phone only. To unlock you need to get the unlock code from you network, I rang Vodafone and they gave me the code for nought.

Try it and see. You might need the N96 product code.

I did this on my N96 and it updated the firmware but I still have vodafone optins etc on it and the little silver button next to the navi key now does nothing and still no TV function?????

is there a UK code or is it a euro code i use?
also just had the phone unlocked from Voda, if i use the NSU will it relock the phone?
dont really want to spend another £15 just to re-unlock it.

Just go for EURO1 or something, all the EURO firmware have English on, the only difference is the other European languages that are on part of the firmware.

Using NSU will not re-lock your phone so don't worry about that. All NSU will do is just remove all the network branded software on your phone and update it.

Just used NSS and NSU to unbrand my O2 N95-8GB. All went well and my f/w level is 31.0.015.

No more O2 menus!!!
