    Default Scotland

I fancy taking the wife and kids away for a sunny week in Scotland in August.

Can any of the resident Jocks offer any opinions on the best and worst of these destinations:-

    Southerness
    Sundrum Castle
    Wemyss Bay
    Tummel Valley
    Nairn Lochloy
    Grannies Heilan Hame

They are all caravan parks offered by parkdean holidays which is about our budget for this year unfortunately. I see the last 3 are in the Highlands which is a bit of a journey for a week (i'll be driving from Kent) but if there's plenty to do and see i'll make the extra effort.

    Any opinions and advice appreciated

sunny and scotland don't go together m8

not sure about any of them, i wouldn't go to wemyss bay, i heard thats a bit of a shithole. we had a caravan down in Haven/Heads of Ayr in Ayr for 20 odd years. Haven is OK for the kids, usually something to do, but like any campsite of that nature it's fsckin expensive.

Hopefully you'll find somewhere tho mate...

Ive never been to any of these sites myself but i would say the one at Loch Tummel would be my preference due to its geography you are close to Glasgow 1hr ,Edinburgh 1hr and some brilliant highland countryside . The last two are too far away from kent 12hr drive and the second and third are in ayrshire , the first one i dont know.
But wherever you go pray for sun

grannies heilan hame is a dump imho stayed there for a week but left early
Nairn Lochloy is a dump , theres a beach there and thats about it
The Highlands are great for scenery, as is the West coast but I wouldnt stay with Parkedean up here, Im trying to think of any other caravan parks up here that are worth staying at, depends if you want to be near civilisation or not

Tummel valleys nice has nice log cabins and caravans, nice sceanery always find you get pissed easier the more you head up to the top of scotland its all that fresh air.

I'm sure tummel has sauna rooms, kids clubs swimming pools some great walks and the fishings good too.

    Wemyss Bay = shithole

drive through it regularly.. wouldnt stop tbh.

largs is ok, but not exactly holiday material.. more sunny sunday afternoon material (icedcream shops, arcades, beach, sometimes theres kids rides out along the front) and its only 5 mins from wemyss bay... also has ferries to milport... which is not a bad day out.

dont know any of the other places, so cant help with those, sorry.

    Info Re: Scotland

    Thanks to the Sun's £9.50 holidays;

Southerness - Total shithole and miles from anything
    Sundrum Castle - Don't know!
Wemyss Bay - As previously said- Shithole
Tummel Valley - Nice but a miles from anything
Nairn Lochloy - Next to Nairn town centre, 15 miles from Inverness Great beach
Grannies Heilan Hame - Great beach but again miles from anything (55 miles Inverness)
