    hi lads n lasses,
my drive is startin to act up,not reading some disks but reading others?
i've heard you can swap the lasers on them but i cant find a tutorial on it.
    is it easy to do?
do you need a specific laser for the samsung or hitachi or are they universal???
seen a few on ebay but you got to get em from hong kong(not keen on that)

    any help would be appreciated

Ok you can change the laser supposidly for either hitcahi or sammy replacement, I tried to do this its easy enough to change you just need to be careful taking out the ribbons on the control board. You then need to remove the anti static solder blob on the laser. There you go, i totalled by 360 doing this, left it open and hadn't taken the antistatic blob off booted up, wouldn't read anything and then boom three red lights, 110 quid to repair in the console shop. Maybe just get a new drive from the shop 60 quid from a console repair shop. www.mrmodchips.co.uk if you want a laser. 20 quid.

    A bit of advice!!
    KEEP WELL AWAY FROM *****chips.co.uk
I've had plenty of stuff from him in the past with no problems but when i ordered 2 360 lasers off him not long back and they were both duffs he just said i must have damaged them installing them.
Now i've been working in electronics for over 1o years and always work on a antistatic work bench while wearing my antistatic wrist strap and was quite offended with his attitude and not even considering accepting them back as faulty.

So basically he's ok with delivery but if there's any problems with items ordered THEN TUFF!!!! you aren't getting then exchanged..

    Sonik..

I have nothing to do with Mr Modchips business, he is a personal friend and we used to do some business together before I closed.
