wmv-hd question and .ts files, do they play back on the 360?

All,

before I go and waste a disc, I was wondering if anyone has managed to play back .ts files on the 360?

I've just got some movies that have been ripped off Sky HD and are in .ts format. One of them is 16gb!!!!! So that will have to be a USB job! But has anyone managed to get these to play ok yet? They play in media centre on the Laptop fine.

Also with wmv-hd files... has anyone had a problem where the disc stops at the layer break? I was watching Deja Vu last night and the machine came up with an error code which I presume was at the layer break. I then started the movie again and stepped through until the break and continued to watch it fine.. I used the Nero UDF method to burn.

.ts files won't play off disc but they happily play streamed from a pc....you will need to install hdtvpump on the pc....look in the stickies, there's a good guide in there

if the film is getting stuck at the layer break then I'd say that the laser is having trouble recognising that it needs to refocus and skipping fwd forces it to. I find this happens with cheaper discs so try some verbs

im pretty sure you can only stream from a media centre pc ,
and not a vista one at that. i have quite a few movies in ts goldberg they are amazing quality. worth mucking about for , though you really need a wired connection because streaming these files uses about 20mbps constant bandwidth!

Hi,
Its also worth noting that the .ts file can't be too fragmented on your Hdd
or you'll get pauses and the network congestion warning box in the 360 media extender

most of my mates thought i was mental for grabbing 15-20 gig movies lol

Yeah it is worth it, I work in the movie industry and deal with HD, 2k and 4k footage on a daily basis. To me the difference is huge!

I'm going to grab a 2nd 360 anyway for the bedroom..... for £150 on boots site it's rude not to lol!
