    Default BT Vision Question

    All,

This is still new and as I have a dilema where I can not have Sky at our new property or Virgin.... I'm now resorting to BT Vision.

1 Question however that I cannot find an answer to.. Does the BT Vision box need to connect to the Home Hub.....

I hope not as my Home Hub will replace my Sky Router in one of the bedrooms, if I have to connect the BT vision box direct to the Home Hub then it's also a no no!

Hope someone can answer my question.

    Thanks

    Found this

"You'll need to connect from the v-box to the BT Home Hub using an Ethernet (networking) cable. The BT Home Hub is your Broadband modem, and connects to your phone line for Broadband Internet access."

    Cheers guys,
just read in antoher thread you can connect 2 home hub's together (obviously 1 is just an access point). Maybe I can do the same with my Netgear Router? I just want to keep my NAS Drive and printer in the other room. If the Hub has to go near the TV then so be it.

So Suityou, you may be ok mate. You can pick up a 2nd Home Hub on Ebay for about £15 delivered!

If My netgear doesnt work i'll be doing that.

Just got the official response from BT. The confirmed it does need to connect to the Home Hub and they provide a 3 metre Cable.

They also advised that if my computer is not wireless they will provide me with a free wi fi adapter.... obviosuly my PC does not have wireless

You can also run it with one of those 'Network over mains' adapters (but make sure you have the faster one) works fine.

Just a quick question as I am clueless about this whole homehub vision thing. What channels do you get with it? How much should it cost? How does the vision connect to TVs? :s

Reason I ask is BT are giving me free internet, homehub and for a £1 one off charge free Vision as my dad works for them.

    Cheers

You receive all freeview channels with the ability to record on the160gb hard disk and pause live TV. There is also a selection of films, TV repeats and kids progs/games to purchase (films from £1.99). Good value for £1 (even if you pinched the HD out).

Plus they have exclusive rights (I think...) to show every premiership game next season almost live.

I'm not 100% sure of the full details but I think it's just a delayed start (probably straight after the final whistle). Also I'm not sure of cost per game. You can buy the Sentanta games too without needing a Top up TV card.

premiership games will be showen once the match has finished on sky as sky will not give up the rights to anyone, your better off watching it in the pub, the selection of films they have are at the moment are classed as current, as in, theyv just been rlsd on dvd

Bt has throwen millions at this so just hold on for the time being, theyv recruited more staff for vision than they have for broadband so there plans are huge (i work for em thats how i know)

give it a few weeks (if they arent offering you it at £1 lol) cos they are running a trial for self install at the moment, and it should become an option within 2 months saving the £60 charge for some "engineer" to plug it in

you can call and ask about going on the trial, i dont know if they're still accepting people on to it though
