    Default 1st timer

I have started having lessons (1st one last night) on using my SLR camera, as i got mine months ago, but havent used it properly. So i have a guy come round and show me the functions etc etc.

He set me "home work" so i got stuck in tonight. His task was to experiment with ISO and apperature settings. One of the photos i took i thought was really good, can you give me your thoughts please as i am quite proud. Cheers.. honest thoughts appreciated so i can learn.. cheers guyz!

    Honestly?

The colour balance is overly "creamy" - and this can be adjusted in camera or in software, particularly if shot in RAW.

The whole image looks a little over-exposed - try adjusting levels and/or curves.

The DOF is not over pronounced, but noticable.

Last thing is the composition - the left hand flower leaves the frame and needs to be back inside - easy to crop better if you have the whole thing in the original image.

    Does this help m8?

    Hi Sparkzz

Well done, it's a nice shot. I have to agree with Bilbo on the points he's raised though but as a first effort it's pretty good. Basically it needs "shifting" to the right to get the frame filled correctly.

Although it's quite a "simple" shot it manages to keep your attention quite well and the contrasting colours work well in my opinion. It's a very calming picture.
