Putting 2 people in 1 pic

Hello Guys
can any of you whizz kids tell me how i can get 2 people in 1 pic, and actually make it look real like they were standing together at the time.

its of 2 kids in thier communion dresses, but the photographer didnt take one of them together, just 2 seperate ones.

so guys is it easy to do for a newbie like me???

any help really appreciated guys

post the pics here, im sure if its possible that someone can do it. The difficulty will depend on the images themselves.

If both images were taken in the church / same location, at pretty much the same time with the same lighting it ought to be quite easy I'd have thought.

Basically use magenetic lasso tool to cut one of the kids from their pic and layer it on top of the other.

But as 909 says it would be better to post the pics up so we can see them.

This is all I could manage but enjoyed having a go whilst havin breakfast cooked for me.

Well I am chuffed it looks ok.
I like to have a go if I think I might have a chance of a result.
I used the magic wand.

yeah its boss m8, just wish i could do it as this one aint printing out well at all, as the resolution is lost from the original pics.

so you used the magic wand, how do you like send to back or send to front in photoshop m8?? or didnt u do this at all

If you want to send a layer backwards you select it in layer pallete eg:turns blue.
Then go to layer tab at top and choose arange: you can bring forwards or back:
I flipped Carleys photo first then used wand tool to select then dragged onto Jades picture:
Positioned Carley where I thought looked best,I then lowered opacity of Carley layer and erased the overlapping dress,turned opacity up.
This left me with some of the flowers showing so I used the clone tool to sample the dress and messed around a bit with the blur tool and anything else that helped me out.

Sorry for poor explaining and bad spelling/grammer I have had no training just what i have picked up off the net.
If I can do this I am sure you will get the grasp.
There are many ways to do the same thing in pshop.
I just have basic grasp.
Once you can master selection and have an idea how layers work you can get by.

i dont think you explained it badly at all m8, ill have to have a bash, tho i prob wont do aswell.
