Tom Tom sound through car audio system

Having modified my TT 510 so that it now plays mp3s, I would now like to play these through my car audio system.
I know that Tom Tom sell a windscreen docking holder which incorporates an FM transmitter, but these are rather expensive.
My question is would an ipod to FM transmitter, the one with the mini jack plug, work on the TT510. If so could anyone recommend one.

I think iTrips come in three types mate, the old ones with a stereo jack and the weird little port thing, so thats no good as the port thing needs to be used I believe, the one for newer tipod which plugs into the dock connection of the ipod, once again no use, and the new nano ones which I believe work the same as the previous one.

You can get FM transmitters that work out of a stereo jack and are very very cheap, sureley these are best for the tomtom and plug into the headphone socket?
