Lineing up a Terstrial ariel ??

Hi all,

i was wathing some guy today install an ariel... he used a little hand held device to get the direction right for the direction of the ariel... and no it wasnt a compas... it beeped and had numbers on it...

Anyone know what it might of been?

Also is there any software / dongle setup that could be used for this.... im thinking along the lines of a satellite meter kind of thing....but for a normal ariel...

Would be nice to know if theres anything about....

Hi there,

there are whole host of RF meters that'll do this task, but most arn't specific for telly frequencies for example:

Keithley's Model 3500
or a few more HERE

there not exactly the cheapest bits of kit, but if you have a business need and would use them often then I would imagine that they would save you loads of time in the long term....

If you just want to adjust install one aerial ;use a digital set top box using the menu and select signal strenght most STB have this feature,but the best bet is to just look at all the other aerials on the roofs and point it that way thats the method I use and I have been installing uhf aerials since 1965
