    Hey, that was a mis-kick!
He was aiming for the bottom right not top left.

That was a stunning, stunning goal, very reminiscent of the lob Rooney scored from a similar position last year

Have to say Messi's is much better, Rooney was almost standing still and was a little further out to be able to get the ball up and down easier.

What? Messi takes ONE step with the ball before hitting it, Rooney takes 3 or 4, and if you take angles into consideration I don't think there was much in the distances. Rooney's was from just outside the box, but more straight on than Messi's.

Honestly, the two goals are virtually identical. Messi's would appear to go higher, that's about it.

Messi's was on the world stage and not against Portsmouth!!! Im not saying that Rooney's wasnt amazing but i think Messi's just pips it tbh

Very biased opinion in my eyes.

Rooney's goal was sublime, but Messi's was definitely better.

I don't often disagree with BBK, but I reckon Messi's goal was better.

Veron has had a brilliant season now that he's back home with estuduantes. He helped them win the apertura in 2006 alongside Jose Sosa who has just moved to Bayern Munich. Plus the argentina coach Alfio Basile tends to call up players playing well in argentina over others abroad.

Portsmouth / Mexico, what's the difference? You know, I do agree with that point, I believe the situation a goal was scored must always factor into how good a goal is, and in that respect the Messi goal IS better. However, in my eyes the technique is virtually identical, so I don't see how outrageous comments like "no other player in the game can do that" can possibly be valid.

Watch that, now tell me which of those two stands out as being technically the better. I can't.

Maybe there is an element of bias in there, but to my eyes the technique looks basically the same. Both are wonderful goals. The only difference is the quality of the opposition.

Would you not say David James would be a better Keeper than the Mexico keeper?

I know nothing about the Mexico keeper, but I do know that David James is a decent and reliable keeper. I know that there's not too many South (central) American goalkeepers make it big in the Premier league.
