    Default Excel XP

    Hey,

I am at work at the moment (Work as IT support for NHS).
I have a user who is having a problem with Excel from Office XP.
The problem is that when he single clicks and highlights a cell it acts like he has kept his finger on the mouse because when he moves his mouse around all the cells he goes over hightlights and there is no way of closing Excel after this unless you go through the task manager!
I have remoted to his machine and the same thing happens to me.
I logged into his machine and it still does the same thing so it aint a profile problem.
Things i have done so far is:

    • Cleared the formats on Excel
    • Re-installed Office XP
    • Installed XP 2003
    • Re-installed Office Xp after that
    • Restarted computer ALOT!
    • looked at mouse settings
    • Compared my excel setting to his and could not find anything
Any ever come across this before.

    Any help much appreciated!!

Is the user using a laptop?

I've had a similiar problem to this and the cause was the left click button would stick down slightly causing the mouse to drag whenever it was moved.

You could get the user to try a new mouse or gently lift up the left click button.

If you are remoting the machine, the laptop mouse is still active, so could be still faulty.
