Photos Orb or Cross Spider (Garden Spider)...

...depending on what you call it...

    Araneus diadematus...

This brightly coloured beauty comes in a variety of shades of orange and brown, and is characterised by the pattern of white dots on its back which resemble a cross. The minutely spiny legs are banded light and dark.

Pictured, the spider is "shedding" a layer of it's skin from its body - presumably part of the growing process. Nonetheless, I still focused on the eyes, an f/stop of 2.8 used. Found in the garden amongst the Leylandii branches.

Urrghh, I hate spiders but, aside from that, that's a great pic... right down to the eye detail.

    Nice shot

Excellent shot, I like the fact that he's not the right way up (if there is a right way up for a spider).

Is it only me that doesn't like it?

Probably not being a fan of spiders maybe the main reason, but also I feel that there is to much blurred in the photo.

As you know Mr Baggins I am a massive fan, but for some reason this one isn't for me.

Creepy as fook, I love this shot so much! Give me any close up of a spider and you will spark my scared senses which somehow give me a kind of adrenaline. I could sit here staring at that for another 10 mins!
