Finding it hard to get my hands on 5 r4ds's and i was wondering is there any differance between it and the m3 as i dont want to buy the wrong cards and wind up having a family feud

The difference between an R4DS and an M3DS Simply are shown in this pic:



so basically there is NO difference what-so-ever! Except for the packaging, and a blob of solder that wont allow R4DS FW to work on the M3 and vice versa!

the software is the same too, updates usually come a day earlier for the R4 version tho.

I think play has cheap micro sd cards on sale at minute. About £12/13 for 2gb

If I put some solder onto that bottom contact, will it turn my Chinese R4 into an English R4?

Depends how old it is, they've removed those contacts on the newer ones. I bought some Chinese ones as they were cheaper only to find they had changed the boards. Its possible tho with a bit of wire as I did on mine. They did leave the M3/R4 contacts tho strangely.
