    Default New DSLR

    Hi guys,

Am in the states at the moment and so was thinking of saving a few £'s and buying a camera out here. Was looking at the Nikon D80 with a 18-55mm and a 55-200mm lens. Is there much benefit from spending the extra £20 or so and getting the vibration reduction version of the 55-200mm lens or not? also any comments on this camera (and lens choices) or any alternatives that you may suggest?

Did also have a look at the Olympus E510 which I'm now kicking myself at not getting as some shop had mispriced it to $560 with two lenses.

I've been looking for my trip next week and the new canon eos 40d is $1299 compared to £895 with the current exchange rate of about $1.95 to the pound your looking at about £670 or a bit less as some places are giving over $2 to the £.

Im so tempted but I want to see some hands on reviews of it first before diveing in.

Can get what I'm looking at for about £650 (maybe a touch less) so its kinda like getting the second lens for free. On that note - does anyone know if I can claim the silly NY tax back at the airport?
