No sound or picture via digi box

In our house we have two digiboxes as my husband watches entirely different programmes to the ones I like. I regularly have problems with mine i.e. sometimes the picture starts to zig-zag and just by pushing on the scart plug it is normal again. BUT now, I can get the guide and menu but the small picture is not there. We have checked everything, aerial, scart etc. The box is made by Duraband or Durabrand and is model PSTB1. Last night it would not turn on with the handset which had new batteries in it and yet the screen changed when I pressed MENU or GUIDE which I think is really odd.
Any ideas anyone? Or, do I need to buy a new one?. None of our equipment is old so I am reluctant to buy a digital TV.

try sticking an amplifier on to boost the signal
Also might be a dodgey scart lead

FIRST CHECK THE AV CORDS , MEANS IT CONNECTED PROPERLY. THAN ALSO NOT HAPPEN THAN CONTACT U R DIGI BOX DISTRIBUTOR. SOME TIME THEY BLOCK THE DIGIBOX.

sounds like your board is over heating.. what make is the DIGI box.. Do you have plenty of clearence round it.
