i'm not being funny m8, but please get someone that knows how to do it to show you first hand. i could tell you here but if you dont understand exactly what i'm typing or dont have the exact tools, you could make it very dangerous - i wouldnt want that on my mind.

i have seen first hand the damage badly adjusted chains can do - in my shop there is a gsxr600 srad waiting for a new engine, the owner diddnt look after the chain, it slipped off the rear sprocket on a downchange - luckily it didnt lock up the rear wheel but the now flailing chain tore off the water pump and punched a hole in the crank case.

there was a rider coming off the m1 at watford last year at high speed when his very loose chain locked up the rear wheel and - well, lets just say his family had the dreaded knock at the door that night.

as for lube, wax is good for a final cat to lock in lube and prevent rusting.
use a propper chain lubricant spray. i use silkolene pro race lube

measured from the middle of the bottom run of the chain in the tight spot, if you push up and the chain moves more than about 1.5 inches then its too loose.
it should also appear wet from the chain lube

you more than likely have a massive tight spot or a couple of solid links in the chain, test it all the way allong the chains length.
you will have a tight bit and a loose bit - my bet is you just picked the tight bit by luck!

First thing Ido at the end of each month is take of the chain and completely soak it in Parraffin this is perfectly safe for O-Rings aswell, then get out my tooth brush and clean clean clean, then after thats done I blast it off with WD40 then hose it down with some water then dry it best I can and give it a couple hours to dry naturally so all the water is off. Then I put the chain back on get it up on the Paddock stand or centre stand if you dont have one, then give it a nice even smooth coat of Motul Chain Lube then let it dry for say 10 mins then give it another coat smae as. Do this re lube every time you come in off a trip and your chain will outlast most others trust me I have been doing this for the last 10-15 years and my chains always last run smooth and as far as my race bike goes can give 2-3 MPH extra than a crappy chain.
