    Default streamlinenet.co.uk hosting?

Can anyone advise me if streamlinenet.co.uk is a decent hosting company, im looking at their package that is 180 for 2 years (reseller type package).

Or can anyone recommend anyone better.

With regards to email who is the best company to go with, and do i need to use the same company for email and web hosting?
Ideally looking for a company that supports exchange servers, ive heard fasthosts aren't very good, someone i know that was with them said he had loads of downtime.

    Thanks in advance.

which package in particular were you looking at? reseller accounts tend to be on linux servers but would handle both your web and email.

Your email and web don't *have* to be with the same company or on the same servr.

A managed exchange solution is a different thing all together! unless i've totally missed what you're trying to achive!

was looking at the bulk hosting package with them.
Im after an exchange server for my email but dont want to manage it myself.

I've been told to stay with 1 and 1 instead of moving to streamlinenet because apparently they have changed their servers recently and they're supposed to be much better.

streamlinenet is a bag of wank pal

the mysql servers are just a joke proper slow and if your running a forum or any database applicaition there is freqent drops where for example the forum software is unable to connect to the mysql database

also they oversell there web hosting meaning theres about 800 sites hosted on the same server you are on

i was once a customer with them and the server kept giving me a 500 internel server error there techs wernt able to fix this issue for about a week once they fixed it a few days later internel server error came back up

id recomend going for a vps (virtual private server) or a dedicated server

    Hi

Im with streamline. I went with them because of there value for money and you get email with it. I was with viewline ltd before and they costed a fortune

i pay about 20 for 2 years or something like that. Only problem i had was when i 1st opened the account the email wasnt working and they kept telling me it was me putting in details wrong untill it went to 2nd level support then it worked fine

    I can't believe you're cosidering a reseller option that's £180 for two years.

If you want a decent service, take a look at CWCS. I used them for a while and they were great. Was paying about £50 a month for the and then another £50 for unlimited SQL databases. Althought it wasn't a hosted server, you still get a lot of flexibility in what you can do.

You might want to take a look at ehosting. I currently use them for my personal hosting and they're very good and reasonably cheap. Don't know what their reseller accounts are like, but the support on even the basic package i have is good

If you want serious hosting and want to be able to manage it yoruself, then you're going to be looking at getting a hosted server, but if you're looking for quality and support it think you'll be in for a big shock when you look at the prices
I am a loud man with a very large hat. This means I am in charge

Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Don't touch Stream. as Harry said they're bloody useless.

A few weeks ago, my site was down for the umpteenth time. After 6hrs of downtime, I ticketed them. 12hrs later no reply. I submitted another ticket...no reply. It took them 48hrs to reply to me and my site was down for over 72hrs in total. I've asked what exactly their 99.995 uptime guarantees exactly but they seem to shy away from answering!

Good price, lacklustre service, speed and customer service.

You wanna look at Clook.net They are preston based and have properly 24/7 support. I moved all my stuff to them around a year ago. Had very good service so far.
