360 not reading discs pls help

can't seem to load up a single game now tray ejects whenever it feels like it and all i get when i do get a game in is "to play this game please insert into a 360" help please

As a few people have stated on here.

You have a 3 year warranty if it has 3rl, and a certain place don't check to see if it has.

Quick things to try.

Change the orientation of the machine. Stand it up if its lying down or lay it down if its sanding up.

Use a DVD cleaning disk a few times then try the games again.

Check your disks. The 360 is very fussy with disks. even small marks, scratches or fingerprints can mess up the reading.

If the machine has ring scratched any disks this may also have caused damage to the laser. If this is the case then maybe its time for the Towel On The Vents trick to cause the Ring Of Death to the poor machine.

Ok mate I had this problem, what i did was i got my dvd drive changed and tried to use the wrong key. The drive works fine but it wouldn't read anything all games came up as dvd's. Try a dvd in your drive and if this works then you need to do a reflash with your correct drive key. Otherwise try getting a new dvd drive should only be about £60 try and keep your exsisting controller board.

yup, £60 is WAY over the odds! I payed £28 for a brand spanking new 0047DJ drive from ebay, and that included shipping charges from Hong Kong!! And it was delivered in under a week!

Sounds like the laser is a bit off to me! Try a new laser if you can!

Does it read music CD's or DVD movies? Because if it reads other media fine, but not games, then its def the laser! Because playing games puts more stress on the laser than simply reading a DVD film or music CD...hence the DVD drive spins REALLY fast when playing games, but doesn't spin as fast when watching movies or listining to a music CD!

However the tray ejecting part does sound a bit strange!

well that was for the drive and installation, I'll ask you next time lol, bound to be some time in the near future. It was for a ms28. Anyway...

I still think its that you've done an incorrect flash on the drive with a bad drive key if you can get other media to work. Thats what happened to me. Re flashed and everything worked a okay.

she hasn't said that she tried to flash it tho! In all honesty we need more info! Like did it just start randomly when you turned it on today? Or did you try and flash it, then this started happening just after the flash?

@ OrangeJuicey, Sammy drives are a fair bit more expensive than Hitachi drives, so £60 for the drive and fitting is still a bit over the odds, but not too bad!

I would say its a laser issue... if not buy another off ebay

The fact that it flags games as DVDs means that it is reading the disks though. Therefore you wouldn't expect the laser to be faulty ??? Always could do a pot laser tweak always helped me with bad media types.

We need to know what firmware your on, did you flash recently and can you read real games or not, what media your using, can you play DVDs, could be anything.

not been flashed never had it open,not really tried dvd's in it will have to give that a go see what happens. mny thanx for all the replies if it's a new laser jobby will have to ask one of you nice people on here to do it for me with maybe a flash aswell
