Live gold membership

I've recently bought my first xbox360 and have sent up a live account and qualified for the free 1 month gold trial. I then set another one up for my son who also got the free month trial.

When the trial period is over, if we both wanted to use the gold service would i have to pay for 2 subs, or can i say activate mine and then allow my son to go online using my account but keeping his own gamertag/achievements.

if you want each gamertag to have gold membership, then you will have to pay for 2 subs AFAIK!

Cos the subs are linked to the gamertag themselves, and not the console!

Yes, I think Herman is right, the account is actually linked to the gamertag. There is some info on this page that may be of interest to you:

yea, i think it is also a pi$$take. Considering if u and the missus want your own gamertag, for a bit of live arcade uno action. I would have to pay another £39 for her to have the privilage of playing uno, which is all she ever plays.

Its not like we can both go online at the same time, and suck double the bandwith.

M$ should allow linked profiles on the same machine.

I pay for 2 subs, one for me and one for me wife, we play alot of bomberman online together, and some aegis wing

I find it good value, nice to have our own tags for competing on gamerscore, and cool that we can both play online, i do think microsoft are missing out somewhat on not having 'family' gold accounts, I can imagine it being a pita if there were 5 of you in the house wanting live

I can understand If I had 2 xbox 360's. But we log out of one profile and log in with another. The profiles cannot be used at the same time.

Never had any problems using multiple gamertags on a gold account, only one at a time mind you.
