    Default Pixel issues, had any?

I just noticed I have a stuck (green) pixel on my LCD TV. Can't see it except if I go very close to the set. Very annoying, as I'm the type of person who expects things to work properly, especially for the more expensive stuff...and just that I know it's there, bothers me.

I also appreciate the effort it takes to manufacture a panel, yet most companies are hiding behind the little print, with their lousy pixel policies.

So, just out of curiousity, I'm starting this poll to see how common pixel issues are, please mention the brand of the TV (not manufacturer of the panel). But this not for TV's only, if you had issues for example with your PSP counts.

    Mine is LG.

Here's some info that might help you out crony....

    Spoiler:
The stuck green pixie is usually found trapped in a bottle. Oh, it's not like some wizard sealed him in there, or anything -- he probably fell in trying to get the last few drops of booze out. Green pixies are kilted, red-dreadlocked, tattooed, boozing brawlers. They're more likely to steal your silverware than help you with the housework, and the only wish they grant is "I wish I were being headbutted in the ankle."

They're known for mixing alcohol and strong hallucinogens, which makes them fierce in battle (and totally awesome in concert).

Got one on an unbranded laptop, can only notice it when the screen's black as it then sticks out like a sore thumb. I also think its a joke that faulty screens are allowed to be sold like this. Best bet I can think of it to buy it mail order so you have the legal 7/14/whatever it is days cooling off period, or to engineer a fault and ask for replacement.

    I've voted no.
2x 42" Panasonic plasmas - no dead pixels
1x 26" Acer LCD - no dead pixels
3x current laptops - no dead pixels
1x 19" widescreen Acer LCD - no dead pixels
1x PSP - 1 stuck pixel that released after a while

Most companies will only change the screen if something like 5 or more are dead. Check out my mates blog on his Alienware experience for more info : http://www.otakunozoku.com/Articles/...Alienware.html

ive a single blue pixel on both of these acer monitors.

they werent there when i got the monitors and they are barely noticable, they just seem to have appeared over time.

most noticable if theres a large area of flat colour.

dont most manufacturers have a %age dead pixel policy or sommat... think you have to pay through the nose for a zero dead pixel warrenty.

Yeah I think it is up to 3 pixels is policy.

Don't have a problem but it's interesting that you can fix them if you do.

EDIT: I'm referring to monitors - just re-read the thread - sorry.

Got them on my image sensor - canon eos 350d. - 8.1megapixels - some are hot pixels though.

Read somewhere that canon's acceptable count is 0.01% for image sensors. 8 or so damaged pixels which isn't too bad when you have 8.1 million of the little fella's !

Yeah they do. I know that it's also different grades for LCD type items. If your military or medical then it's grade A = no dead pixels.

Not had any on my stuff yet. My brothers screen has a green one slap bang in the middle.

Only shows on certain colours but fuck me it's annoying.

The video I posted above is aimed at the PSP but can be used to "unstick" dead pixels on some LCD's. Never had any to try it on so far.

Ive just had a green line appear on my 40" LCD TV too.

Right down the centre of the screen.

Little "they don't make them like they used to" rant here.
What new things have I obtained this year?

    New car
    PS3
    42" LCD
    20" LCD
    Nokia N95

All of which I have had either replaced or serviced, ffs!!!

New car - interiror issue, needed parts replacement
PS3 - One USB port busted, PS3 replaced
42" LCD - Where do I start, nothing right with it, except the size, need to take it to the servicer, from where it will still most likely be replaced.
20" LCD - Dead pixels galore, sent it back for good
Nokia N95 - Slider fucked up, slider replaced, came back the same...live with it

Takes a lot of time and energy to deal with all that shit.

Plasmas get dead pixels as opposed to stuck pixels. A friend has a Panny with 2 dead pixels - they just don't light up at all.

Sorry my mistake...they are dead pixels.

This was my result with a pixel checker.

    Red screen - black pixel
    Blue screen - OK
    Green screen - OK
    White screen - green pixel
    Black screen - OK

My brothers screen has two fuck off big green ones. I was worried when I got me TV as it would piss me off, lucky I got to see it working in the shop first so I gave it a good going over (and that included a good empty when I got excited).
