Religious 'discussion' gets far too heated and easily becomes a mouthpiece for bigots. Putting it in it's own section wouldn't help that.

On a daily basis the national papers seem to be on a mission to scour the country to find the wackiest moral decision from a Muslim, just so someone can post it on here, causing people to point and rant about how the country is going to shit because some nutter in Gwent thinks his interpretation of the koran shows that there should be no pubs in a 50 mile radius of his home!

I think religion often gets a bad press for all the fringe extremists drowning out the voices of the moderates. I personally enjoy debating and learning from peoples of all faiths whilst I come to grips with exactly what it is I believe in.

I think it'd be better just to allow it and ban anyone who's a twat about it. There was a thread yesterday closed (rightly given the current rules) but it wasn't exactly what we've seen in the past and didn't look as if it was threatening to become so. Regardless of what your personal thoughts are regarding the media it's a subject that is around us in our everyday lives and as such something that should be debated. If it's not on here I can live without it, I can talk about it elsewhere, but it's as valid a topic for conversation as any.

It wouldn't work as there are far too many people ready to confuse religion with race.
Disagreeing with Christianity does not make you a member of Al Qeeda (sp), disagreeing with Judaism does not make you a nazi, and not following the protestant line doesn't make a member of the IRA.

I think with this forum being associated with raptors buisness it would look a bit wierd if it got known for openly slagging one race or another, wouldnt really be a wise move.
