Xbox Live Arcade Games

This all boils down to Microsoft and there fucking DRM. I got a new Elite xbox and copied all my stuff over with a memory card. I then re-downloaded all the arcade games again that I had paid for. Lovely.

Until I went to play them, unless your logged into LIVE then they only work as trial games.

After a hunt about on the xbox forums and looking through a 95 page thread it seems a major issue. It "locks" the games to the original 360 they are downloaded to. So if they are on your original machine then you can access them as full games even offline.

Normally I wouldn't give a toss as it's always online, but I'm hoping to go off abroad after crimbo and was thinking about taking my 360, if I've got no LIVE then I wont be able to use my (paid for) arcade games. TOSSERS!!!

Seems loads of people have moaned about this as it applies to returned machines, if you have had your xbox sent away to MS and try to play the games offline your fucked as chances are it's a different xbox, they will play when you login as it matches them to your tag.

Well, that's put me right off getting anymore xbla stuff. I know I can get most of the old games on ROM's for the PC but that's not the point.

Yeah that is really fucking stupid. The games are massively too expensive as it is and are available in many different places on the net for free already so copyright really shouldn't be a major concern at this stage.
Just get an original xbox for about £40 and then put a new hard drive in that then put 5000 classic games on that for free. Jobs a good-un. Bit of a pain taking both machines about tho. I feel your pain.

I still don't understand why you can't stream properly from pc to 360 when it works perfectly on modded xbox's

The whole live thing also slows down the loading times for the games quite a lot.
I hate the way when you open the games folder if you have quite a few games it seems to load them in a random order and takes its sweet time over it and kinda updates the list while you navigate so its confusing as to where you are on the list unless you wait until they are all loaded.

these are small niggles i dont see why they lock it to your xbox. should just be your xbox live tag

True. I not have many of the games really cos they are just a waste of money. After bout 5 mins I get bored of them in general. But yeah I see your point. But as its msoft they will do fa about it

Yeah it's to stop you copying them to a memory device and then unloading to another machine. I think it is somehow linked to gamertag, as when you login (with the tag used to download them originally) they work fine.

I agree this is annoying, there must be a better way than this. Ideally just being able to change your personal xbox to the new machine, making them cease working on the old one would be fine :s

I love the arcade though, having to be signed into live to play them wouldn't put me off buying the games i like

i moaned about this last year when my first 360 broke down, i even phoned ms about it as i was that pissed off, i tired telling them that its their fault the fucking things died on my so its their problem to make my live games work off line as i was staying away for work abit. I payed to play games on and offline, you know what the cunt said, sorry sir thats the way it is and its not gonna change, fucking toss pot

Yeah they could easily just reregister the games to the new xbox.

i.e. rebuy the games on your behalf and not charge for this. Wankers
