    Xbox Help with some ROMS

I've got some N64 roms ready to put on my XBox, thing is for each game I have loads of different file names, I'm guessing it something to do with the language maybe?

I don't really want to have 5 copies of each game so does anyone know what all the info at the end of the filename is all about?

Here's an example of the file's I have:

    Code:
    Mario Kart 64 (E) (V1.0) [b2].z64
    Mario Kart 64 (U) [t2] (Course Cheat).z64
    Mario Kart 64 (U) [t4].z64
    Mario Kart 64 (J) (V1.0) [o1].z64
That's only a few, in total I have 25 versions of mario kart!

    (E) = European
    (U) = USA
    (J) = Japanese

The rest seems pretty self explanatory, cheat hacks, etc.

Just go with the european version and ditch the rest!

I think the letters E and J are for European and Japanese and U is USA(?) so go for the E ones.

Cheers, should be able to thin it out a bit. When I extracted them all I got a total of 35gig of the fuckers!

Any idea what the (b1) (b2) (b3) etc... is all about? Some have "cheat" or something but then another load might have the E, then some other strange shite on the end.

Sometimes, I find it useful to go with the USA versions, simply because in the Euro stuff occassionally you'll get roms that dont have any english on them, be they french, german, spanish etc... They're usually identified, but not always

Yeah, well I'm using Surreal 64xxx, seems to handle most of the ROMS I've chucked at it so far.

Just spotted this so don't know if my advice is of any use or not but here goes.

If for the same title, as in the case of Mario Kart 64 for instance, you're given a choice of USA or Euro ROMS, you really should go for the USA one, for the simple fact that unlike the PAL Euro version it will be full screen and full speed, essential for any racing or fighting games. You'll also lose the heavy borders at the top and bottom of the screen where a title has not been PAL optimized, just 'shrunken' to try and maintain the correct in game speed. PAL Wave Race and 1080 are just two examples where the Euro cartridge/ROM is absolutely shit with heavy borders, slowdown and less than no sensation of speed.
