    Question Game Advice

    I work over at a college and we are looking at running a game design unit. We will need a game which is freeware as my boss wont consider spending money!!! Can anyone recommend a game which has level editors and is freewae and does not fantastic PC's (We are in a college!)

    Might find it harder to get newish games for free I would imagine, unless your boss don't mind torrents !

    Check www.abandonia.com for loads of free games, old ones mind.

    Just get on ebay for C&C - red alert. great game, and a great level editor to boot. You can get it for next to nothing anyway

    American Army is a free game that can be downloaded but don't know if there is a good level editor...

    Half-Life 1 has very good tools for designing levels though and although not free will be about £5 a copy now, if that.

    I take it you are looking for first person shooters that are multiplayer.

    Because otherwise RTS games normally have very easy to use level editors and game creators, such as warcraft III and I think maybe C&C games.

    The most panfullt accurate level designer I've ever used was in Heroes of Might and Magic (3 onwards). 3 and 4 are on white label now (or whatever you call it) so can be got for peanuts.

    You can modify single patches (about 5x5 pixels) of grass, lol

    Yeah, the 1st one, I don't think it has a skirmish campaign though, so no level editor.
