    Default Ankle injury

Has anyone got experience of recovering from ankle injuries in as short amount of time as possible?

I've sprained my ankle and unfortunately next week I have to run a 1.5 mile (with 800m warm-up) timed best effort. I can run through pain so that won't be a problem (although it has to be right by January) but I need to be able to still do it, if not to the best of my ability, pretty quickly, aiming for 10:30.

I know standard tips for injury recovery such as RICE, taking ibuprofen or similar anti-inflammatory/painkillers etc so I'll be doing/have done things like that but wonder if anyone has any other tips. I've got a couple of old physio exercises too so I'll be doing them.

RICE is really only any good for reduceing swelling and isfor initial treetment. Rest is the best thing, I screwed mine up a few years ago and it hasnt been right since I cant stand for a period of time useing my left foot holding my main weight. I actually beleive I broke somthing I hope I did it hurt like hell for weeks and work wouldnt beleive how bad my foot was these photos were taken a few days later as I was away working down south.

Don't rush or try to continue or you will risk more damage I was forced to work for 3 days after the initial incident and it has really messed my ankle up.

All the usual stuff works, rather than taking anti inflammatory tablets use a good anti inflammatory cream or gel. The best one I have found is Voltarol http://www.expresschemist.co.uk/inde...&newcurrency=1
