Has anyone got an Ice Cream Maker ?
Are they any good, are they worth buying ?
What make or type is the best ?

    Thanks

    Hi

I've got a Panasonic icecream maker that you don't need to prefreeze or anything. It was dead cheap at under £30 and though it doesn't make loads of icecream it's enough for about 4 portions. I think it's great - I didn't want one that you had to keep in the freezer for 12 hours first cos I don't think that far in advance! It takes a while for it to freeze but if you make it up just before you have your tea it'll be ready for supper...yum!

I've heard good things about Gaggia but you need to leave it out all the time - it has it's own freezing ability and so if you move it about it doesn't work so well - something to do with the fluid in it.

Oh and I got the Ben and Jerry's icecream recipe book, apparently when you get good it's easy to make up your own recipes but I haven't got that far yet

I bought it in the summer and have used it probably half a dozen times - so perhaps not the greatest value for money , but I still think it was a worthwhile purchase...looking forward to making Christmas pudding icecream with leftovers at Christmas!

Hi, Thanks for the replies. I ended up with the Magimix. It's a bit of a pain to freeze the bowl, but it makes great ice cream.
