GAMES giant Nintendo have resorted to flying in thousands of Wii consoles from Japan in a bid to meet demand this Christmas. The Wii has become the must-have gift this year and supply in the UK is struggling to keep up with demand. Amazingly, Nintendo have even cancelled TV ads for the console to prevent upsetting consumers who won't be able to get their hands on one. Rob Saunders, Nintendo's chief in the UK, said: "I am asking my bosses in Japan to fly in jumbo jets full of consoles to try and solve the shortage." The console, with unique motion-sensing controllers, has become the number one family gift of the year. A shortage of microchips used in the machines means only 1.8million consoles can be made each month.
