    Help Jammin screws?

    Hi,
We have just purchase and built one of those new fangled metal sheds and we are a bit concerned about the security of the said item. basically the whole thing screws together from the outside via about 1500 philips screws. To circumvent the door padlock it would only take unscrewing a few philips screws.

Therefore we need a way of making the screws un-removable. MrDG tried drilling the crosshead out but each screw but it takes ages per screw... and there are hundreds. He then tried super glueing the crossheads up but the glue is too runny and runs out of the crossheads.... and anyway you would need a lot of little tubes of super glue to do the job. Replacing all of the screws for security screws would be a bit difficult/expensive too (due to the amount).

Can anyone think of a product that will easily fill in the crosshead screws and form rock hard to make it very difficult to get a screwdriver in?

    ta

Try an epoxy resin you can mix as much as you need and then do as many screws as that will allow and then mix some more etc till its all done.

It comes as two compounds which forms a paste when mixed, dries like shit on a blanket!

Was gonna suggest a witty (yet also fun) answer, but the MsDG will cut me down in half a second.

    I'm off to bed.

could try a little arc welder on the screw heads if you know anyone with one (or Mr Dg has one)

How many thieves would waste their time fannying about unscrewing your shed when I am sure there are easier targets. If it is metal then just electrify it.

Thanks for the tip... However I am not familiar with your simile, I am guessing its just like dried weetabix on your breakfast bowl? I am told that "wet wiping" your crevices before you go to bed can work wonders with that problem!

Actually, quite the opposite... I have been told that they are quite the target because they are renowned for being a piece of piss to get into if they haven't been fortified.

Honestly they are really a joke... the whole sliding door thing can be completely circumvented without disturbing the padlock just by unscrewing 6 screws... and these are short 1cm screws into sheet metal, so they can be unscrewed with a couple of turns.

I'd have just made one out of an old transit van or somert

Joking aside, ahem..bigbadleo was spot on, drill some more holes and use bolts with no head to grab on the outside.

Take the shed down and rebuild it in a spare bedroom or dining room and get a house alarm.....problem solved.

Can't you just replace a few key screws with security screws? Clutch head screws really aren't that expensive.

What about employing a guard? You could pay him extra to clean the small spots of rust off... hang on, is that how the warrenty works?

I reckon the bolt idea is a good one.
