Xbox 360 New 360 being picky with cables.

Just bought my lad a new 360 pro, falcon chipset (identified according to all the indicators inc the HS etc).

First tried it with an HDMI cable, no signal even tho the box was on. After a few goes it worked on HDMI (pre-selecting the channel before turning on seemed to work)

Then I tried my existing Component cable into my HDtv, no signal again.

Tried the Component cable that came with the new 360, worked

Gave it my my boy and he's using the RGB Scart cable and he's saying sometimes it works and sometimes not.

Question is has anyone else had any cable issues after they've got one of the newer Falcon 360's ? or is it (as I suspect) just a faulty box.

Could possibly be the Tv . I know my 360 doesn't like being switched cable alot (from SD to VGA cable and back) So pressing the triggers and Y resets the resolution when you boot up and this could help .

Thing is it's on two different TV's - mine is a Samsung LCD and my lads is a normal 26" crt.

The cables are all pre-selected (in terms of the switches) to the correct setting before switching on - either TV or HDtv.

It's faulty mate, take it back and get it exchanged,it's only a matter of time before it come's up with a E74 error and a single red light,I had a 360 do exactly what your's is doing now,it should fire up first time everytime.Explanation is as follow's:-

E74: There is a 90% chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip near the AV cable connection) it can also be caused by a faulty AV cable so check that first. In rare cases it is a problem with the GPU.

Just got the console switched over and this new one seems fine. I thought maybe a cable problem at first but I tried no less than 3x different cables of different types so I knew it was unlikely an actual cable issue.

Thanks for all the suggestions and help guys
