    Default Vegas hotels

hi, gonna book up vegas for July this year with my girlfriend. been reading the other post on here and its all really helpfull but my question is this.

we really like kicking back by the pool during the day. where looking at the MGM grand which has a great pool complex, but some of the other hotels have some pukka pools also but are out of our budget, is it cool just ot roll up to another hotel and use there pool? obviously id be there most of the day so would be buying lunch and drinks all day, is this the done thing?

    thanks

I stopped at the 4 Queens on the strip which was adequate, I'm sure other hotels wouldn't mind you using their facilities for a small fee... the Mirage and Venician are beautiful.

Yeah you can go to other hotel pools, you should check some of them out, ceasars pools are incredible. The Hard rock has special days where they get big celebrities poolside to get people in. and Sundays the pool area becomes Rehab which was good. $20 to get in for non hotel guests.

don't forget the "European" style sunbathing at some Mandalay beach is nice I hear Mirage and Ceasars also have topless pools. opps european style pools. but if your a bloke it costs to go in 5 times more than for women, I wonder why?

As above. It is worth a trip to Caesars and the MGM is OK but they are the only two I visited.

you cant go in the pool complex at the mgm unless your a resident. The pool is awesome though. There is a massive lazy river which flows round and is very chilled just lying on a big inflatable ring. I would definately recommend staying there. The rooms are nice and there are loads of places to eat and drink in the complex. I think you may be able to use some of the other pools at other hotels.

I stayed in the MGM last year, it is what it is a big ass Vegas hotel and as the strip goes it is one of the best and reasonable at the price. It has plenty of restaurant choices and bars and of course one of the largest casino floors. The pool complex is massive but it does get packed.
I would also recommend going to see the KA show in the MGM, the missus will love ya for it

2k is that Sterling or $? If it is Sterling (so $4K) that will be enough unless you are planning to do a lot of gambling, and if you are there for 2 weeks you will be sick of the gambling by day 5.

Also if you don't get a strip view, complain about your room, you'll get an upgrade. Worked for me.

I went in December so cannot help with the pool thing....

What i will say is do not be tempted by the Belagio, it is very nice don't get me wrong but my idea of luxury is lots of glass and a flat screen tv, not big wooden wardrobes.

Most of the Hotels do not offer anything more than you can see by going in as a visitor the mostimpressive one i saw was the Venitian by far, but i did not get to the Wynn at all.

The Wynn is the new Hotel by Steve Wynn who created the Bellagio so it will be impressive, as he has but his name to it. This looks impressive to.

My advice would be to go for one of the central ones Paris was quite nice as well, MGM and Ceasers are also quite central.

I advise central so you only have half the cab fare to get anywhere..... Walking is OK but it really is miles from one end to the other and it can take you 10 mins to get from 1 hotel to the next.

If you are looking at tours i used Looktours and went on the cowboy adventure (wife into horses) which was a waste of money, stick with the helicopter tour and i would say go to the sky walk inststead, i got a £1000 wroth of camera gear to take photos of the grand canyon and they had to be taken blind over my shoulder in the helicopter as we could not see the canyon from where we landed.

So in summary, choose the hotel based on budget and location as you can see most of the best bits for free. Food is not a worry as it is cheap in most places, drinks really are free if you are gambling, just tip $1 per drink. Tip $20 when you check in and you should get a decent room with a good view and buffet line passes for the duration of your stay (Look up Sandwich trick).

    Hope that helps a bit.
