    Help Knackered Computer

My computer is s*****d, it wont turn on. I shut it down tuesday night, then went to work wednesday morning, when i came home the light that indicates it is on, was on. But the computer iteself wasnt on. There were no sounds from inside.

When i tried to turn it off by holding the button, it wouldnt do anything, i was holding it for 30+ sec. In the end i turned the surge protector off then on again which turned the computer off at the mains.

THEN! the computer wouldnt start up just like before.

Does anyone know where i can get a PC tower from as i have the screen/mouse/keyboard etc,

What would i do with my hard drive?

    Thanks to all help :beer

Probably something simple like the PSU.

PSU most likely though the fact that there was a light on may indicate the motherboard has frazzled in some way but was letting power through to the LED.

Hard drive can be removed and installed in a new machine or a USB caddy.

Sounds absolutely knackered m8, best thing ya can do is send it to me and I'll dispose of it for you in an environmentally friendly way, totally free of charge of course.
As far as ya drive goes, I will happily post you it back once I've had a right good look through it for filthy pictures etc.

Ive just opened it up, and it is caked in dust, i was shocked at how much there was inside.

I presume thats why its broke, its burned out?

I hoovered it, and plugged it all back in again, and now it sounds like a car trying to start but cant, like..."nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh" lol

It sounds as if its trying to start up, everytime the noise "nuh nuh" sounds, the processor fan spins.

Is it knackered or does it not sound like it?

EDIT: wrekster, i didnt find the motherboard specs cause i didnt dive that deep, i had a look for big numbers but i couldnt see any, and i didnt unscrew anything but the processor fan.

sounds like the fan in the supply maybe knackered causing part of the psu to fail (there are 2 power rails) or the cpu could have popped due to the overheating with the dust build-up. do you know what kind of cpu you've got? i have a few spare psu's and some cpu's for you to try.
